How to Reach Sonamarg

By Air

By Road

Sonamarg is well-connected to Srinagar by National Highway 1 (NH-1).

The distance between Srinagar and Sonamarg is approximately 80–85 km.
The scenic drive usually takes 2–3 hours, passing through villages, river valleys, and mountain views.
Private taxis, shared cabs, and buses operate regularly on this route.
The newly opened Z-Morh Tunnel now ensures smoother, more reliable access throughout the year and significantly reduces travel time during winter months.

By Train

Sonamarg does not have its own railway station.

The nearest major railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, located about 360 km away.
From Jammu, travelers can continue their journey to Sonamarg by road via taxi or bus.
Work is ongoing on the Kashmir railway network, but Sonamarg remains accessible primarily through Srinagar.
